University Communications
University Communications tells the campus story to internal and external audiences. The team works to enhance and protect the reputation of UC Riverside in support of the university’s mission to enrich the quality of life for the people of California, the nation, and the world.
The ability to communicate effectively and broadly is a growing challenge. Along with managing the institutional Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, LinkedIn, and Twitter accounts, the team also oversees UCR.edu (the campus’s top-level domain) and campus storytelling through UCR Magazine, UCR Life, Inside UCR, and various publications and hundreds of websites covering activities and events on campus. This busy team produces stunning videos and photographs to accompany narrative storytelling. The other departments in Advancement (Development, Alumni Engagement) as well as campus leadership work closely with Communications to amplify the stories and messages about and around the campus.
Because University Communications markets the campus to internal and external audiences, the department itself must embody the very highest standards. The employees in University Communications transmit this excellence themselves and through their work. They cooperate well, imagine creatively, share ideas collaboratively. It is a demanding deadline-driven schedule, a large universe of opportunities, and a constantly changing environment. To work in this unit, you must be driven to be the best, flexible to meet the demands, and creative to always stay fresh.
